Kingfisher Airlines Employees Went On Strike, 31 Flights Cancelled

Today, Kingfisher Airlines cancelled around thirty flights from Mumbai and Delhi because of the strike of its employees, which are complaining about non-payment of salary. While twenty-two flights of airline were cancelled from Delhi, from Mumbai 9 flights were cancelled, said sources. Kingfisher Airline’s employee’s section containing engineers and pilots are not coming for work to secure non-payment of salary, sources said.

In the meantime, the board of the bankrupt airlines is meeting on Wednesday in New Delhi to discuss finances ahead of the declaration of quarterly results. The sources said, the airlines board is meeting at South-Delhi’s five Star hotels today afternoon to discuss about the finances. The airline’s operations have been disturbed time and again since April when pilots stopped and protesting salary delays.

Kingfisher Airlines that has been suffering through fund-crunch from almost a year, has not paid income to its employees for the last 5 months. A sizeable number of its workers have not been paid from February.

A pilot said we couldn’t work without getting salary from such a long time. Though, the decision we took. Airline employees’ decision to go on worry coincides with the parliament’s monsoon session, which starts today. We hoping that the strike will grab the attention towards the Parliament and out misery and plight echoes in political corridors, employees said.
