Rash Driving By the BEST Drivers Causes 40 Deaths Every Year
Due to rash driving by a best bus driver, a biker lost his life by being crushed under the double-decker bus around 5 pm on Friday. The accident took place near to Kalanagar traffic junction Bandra (E), when the driver took a sharp turn on the high speed moving bus no. 310 running between Kurla-Bandra to cross the red signal.

In that bus around 60 commuters were travelling, from which 31 people got injuries that also includes two conductor of that bus, which were taken for treatment to the Bhabha Hospital. However the driver escape from any injuries and got arrested by the police under the charge of rash driving due to negligence that caused a life and many grievous hurt to commuters.
BEST buses being the most used system for public transportation remains unsafe. As in the year 2010-11, drivers of the best buses were got involved in around 691 accidents due to which 46 people lost their life. The figures of earlier year’s accident were nearly 882 due to reckless driving by BEST drivers. As per the records, the average number of death by BEST is 40 every year.
A senior officer of BEST said that jumping signals and speeding had become a major threat for the management of BEST and the regular counselling given to the drivers had failed to give a desired result.
