The Mumbai Marathon is an event organized annually, this is a international competition of road running  called as Marathon. This is a long distance running done on roads of Mumbai; This event is organized in month of January. This is a Marathon for 42.195 km, also it has a Half Marathon 21.097 km, in the Dream Run 7 km distance needs to be covered, Senior Citizens‘ carry this race for 4.3 km and Wheelchair race is for 2.5 km.

This event firstly took place in year 2004, the event was also a part of “The Greatest Race on Earth“The main sponsor of the event is Standard Chartered Bank. The Greatest Race on Earth has all together 4 such events organized across the world, one takes place in Mumbai called as Mumbai Merathon, one in Singapore called as Singapore Marathon, one in Nairobi  called as the Nairobi Marathon and one in Hong Kong called as Hong Kong Marathon.

The prize awarded to the winners is in 2 Categories that is men’s and women’s the amount of $31,000 each is awarded, and in India the Indian Citizen who wins the race is awarded with $2,250.
