St. Thomas Cathedral one of the oldest Church in Mumbai
St. Thomas Cathedral, Mumba was the 1st Anglican church in Mumbai which started in 1718 the main aim of to get more morality in the British settlement. It is located near to to Horniman Circle Gardens on the on Veer Nariman Road.

The Famous Churchgate station is named after this. His is one of the gates in the Fort area which was built by East India Company in order to protect the settlement. This is the reason the area in the West side to the church is known as “Churchgate”
The British East India Company’s captured all the factories in Surat and Bombay, which belonged to Portugal. Gerald Aungier was given charge to handle them, also he was the governor on Mumbai in those days, he brought some , a hospital, a church, a court along with some other civic amenities into existence.
In year 2004 UNESCO selected the cathedral for its Asia-Pacific heritage conservation award
