Nehru Science Center Encouraging Science to Grow

Nehru Science Center,(NSC) is the largest science center in India, situated in Worli. The name of the center comes after the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. The Park started in 1979. The Nehru Science Center was inaugurated by Rajiv Gandhi on 11th Nov 1985. Rajiv Gandhi wasIndia’s Prime Minister in those days.

Nehru Science Center was open as a Science andTechnologyMuseumin late 60s, later on which turned out as largest interactive science center inIndia. The 1st exhibition started in the center in 1977 which was known as Light & Sight’ and 2 years later that is in 1979 it came out as world’s firstSciencePark. The science center all well papered to be open for the public in 1985. the Science Center is spread in around  8 acres of land with enormous varieties of plants, shrubs and trees. One can find around 50 interactive exhibits related to sound, energy, mechanics, kinematics and transport all there are installed and working in the science park. The building’s architecture is very unique in its own.

The center runs under supervision of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), this body has around 27 Centers and Museums across the country. Nehru Science Center, among one of the National level Science Museums, The other centers are inNagpur,Bhopal,Calicut,Goaand Dharampur . Center is involved in organizing several science education activities, competitions and programs for helping the common people and students.

Around 600,000 people visit here every year that enjoys the science & technology. The center lies onDr. E. Moses Road, Mumbai – 400018, it comes in between to Worli Naka and Mahalaxmi Railway Station.The Science Center makes the science to entertain people, excite people, and initiate developments of science by common people for improving the quality of life.
