Chembur – The Fun Place to Be In Mumbai

The suburban neighborhood of east Mumbai is Chembur, which is located around 20 KM from C.S.T airport and 22 KM away from Mumbai. The name Chembur is derived from a Marathi word ‘Chimboree’ which means ‘Large Crabs’.

Chembur used to lie in the boundary line of North East Parliamentary in 2008. Now it lies in the South Central Parliamentary constituency. Chembur is surrounded by outer edge such as Kurla, Chunabhatti, Ghatkopar, Govandi, Mankhurd, Deonar.

 1.    Saga

Before the city was formed, it used to lie towards the North-West of Trombay Island. It is said that the place Chembur is the same place mentioned by an Arab writer in Saimur. It is also said that Chembur is the reference to Chevul, which is located to the mouth of Kundalika River. This place later on started to occupy branch of animal house. These houses were having around 800 to 1000 animals each year.

In year 1827 Bombay President Golf club was established and later on it was rebuilt, so that it could match the international standard. Railway line was established in year 1924 for passengers. The city was finally opened in the year 1930 after the construction, which started in year 1920. In year 1945 Chembur became the part of Greater Bombay.

In the year 1955-58 this city transformer completely when it was shifted to residence suburb.

2. Means of Traveling

At Chembur you can find all modes of transport like taxi, auto-rickshaw, BEST. It’s been announced that monorail line is going to arrive soon in Chembur. Some of the major roads of Chembur are Sion-Panvel highway, V N Purav Marg, Dayanand Saraswati Marg, R C Marg and many more.

This is an important road for people who likely travel through Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Tikal Nagar and Chembur Harbour line railway station lie in Chembur.

 

3.    Monetary Condition

You can find several Industries over here in Chembur and many Retail Outlets. Near to Chembur station lays a Chembur market, which provides with goods, clothing, Food and vegetables to people in Chembur.

You can find many retail shops and factory outlet store in malls. Chembur is really famous for food. You would like to have food from street as well as restaurants.

4.    Places to Visit

There are many places to visit over here in Chembur. Public places like Gandhi Maidan, Diamond garden, Tilak Nagar ground, Annabhau Sathe Garden are really famous over here. Many sports activities are organized over these grounds. People also come in the morning for their exercise session.n

The most famous golf club in Mumbai is located in Chembur, which is known as Bombay Presidency Golf Club. This golf club is located at Dr. Choitram Gidwani, which is toward the east of Chembur. You can find many other fitness centers over here in Chembur.
